The Cuchara River Valley of Colorado
This is one of the most beautiful and unique places on Earth. We have explored this area since we were young. We know it well. We know what we have here: the last of undiscovered, unexplored, unpolluted, unpopulated, and undervalued Colorado. Are you interested? This is the Wild West, Land of the Utes and the Comanche. This is a countryside of contrasts, classical music and rodeo, world-class arts and crafts, Texas longhorn cattle and llama ranches, fine art, antiques, excellent food, lots of wildlife and wilderness... and some of the most unique geology on Earth. The population here varies with the seasons, and there's a lot of folks who came here once and never left. Big views, great weather, high mountain fishing lakes, state wildlife areas, national forest, state parks... we can't write it all down here: you need to come and experience it for yourself. If the natives of this valley have one thing in common it's this: we under-promise and over-deliver. Are you still interested? |

This isn't a big destination. There's a couple small airports, a small ski area, a couple of good golf courses and one excellent one. San Isabel National Forest and the Spanish Peaks National Wilderness Area are just out of town and we have some excellent mountain climbing/hiking available without the crowds found in most other areas of Colorado. We have a very low population and a lot of countryside to spread it out in. After a couple of visits, the bank teller will know you, your kids and your pets by name. Everybody waves, open handed. The honking on the road? That's because there's wildlife everywhere and we don't want anyone hurt. Still interested? |
